The new year rolls around like clockwork, and by mid-February, most resolutions are long forgotten. This year, though, I made it my goal to set realistic intentions—and do my best to actually stick to them. Well… here’s how that’s going.
Save That Money 💰
I’ll admit it—I’m a chronic spender. At 24, I’ve realized I want to travel, feel more financially secure, and start building real savings. My original goals were a little unrealistic when I factored in my income versus bills, but a month and a half in, I’m proud of where I’m at.
I opened a high-yield savings account and have been adding whatever extra I can. Any cashback goes straight into that account, and I’ve also started putting the money I don’t spend on coffee or clothes into a separate travel fund. I may not be saving huge amounts yet, but it’s progress—and that’s what matters.
Visit NYC 🗽
I love New York and haven’t been in years. I’m thrilled to say my flight is booked, and I’ll be heading there in April! Sometimes it really is as simple as saying “yes” and booking the flight.
Next on the list: Los Angeles to visit a friend. I’ll definitely update once that trip is on the calendar.
Run a Race 🏃♀️
It’s February, and I still haven’t registered for a race—but I’m proud of the consistency I’ve built. I’ve been running at least three days a week and increasing my mileage by one mile each month. Right now, I can comfortably run four miles, and I’m hoping to hit five by the end of February.
Read a Book a Month 📚
In January, I read Half his Age by Jennette McCurdy. I’d love to get more active on Goodreads and eventually link my reading list so people can follow along. That’s on the to-do list!
Learn to Cook 🍞🥣
My cooking and baking journey has been surprisingly fun. So far, I’ve baked a few loaves of bread and made vegetable broth and potato soup entirely from scratch—no recipes! It’s been satisfying to build confidence in the kitchen one meal at a time.
These are my main goals for the year, and I’m planning to create individual pages for each one so I can keep track of updates and progress. It’s exciting to see how small habits are already adding up—and I can’t wait to look back at the end of the year and see how far I’ve come.
