There’s something so special about giving gifts that feel personal — the kind that are one-of-a-kind, a little quirky, and made with love. This year, I’ve been completely inspired by a TikTok idea where you fill a basket with a mix of thrifted finds and handmade goodies. It’s thoughtful, sustainable, and honestly just so fun to put together.
Lately, I’ve been on the hunt for the best thrift store gems — I’ve found adorable sugar and creamer pots, candlesticks, a bracelet, some cute mugs, a tiny clock, and a few pieces of fun, funky art. I’m still searching for picture frames, vases, and unique wine or champagne flutes to round out the collection. Thrifting really is like a treasure hunt — every trip feels different!
On the handmade side, I’ve been busy crafting gifts myself. My current obsession is painting coasters — they’re simple, affordable, and totally customizable. Next up, I want to try painting hairbrushes, bedazzling lighters (because why not?), and creating “blind date with a book” setups wrapped in brown paper and tied with string.
And because I can never resist adding a cozy touch, I’ve also been considering taking up baking so I can include some homemade treats in the baskets. A few cookies, a mini loaf of sweet bread, or a jar of spiced nuts would make it even more special!
✨ How I’ll Jazz Up the Baskets:
Along with the thrifted and handmade pieces, I’m thinking of adding wine, coffee, a favorite book, incense, or a cozy candle to finish it off.
My sister’s birthday is next week, so I’m using her as my test run — I’ll be putting together my first basket soon and can’t wait to see how it turns out. I’ll share photos once it’s complete (and of all the handmade creations along the way)!
